Sen. Gillibrand announces plan to fight against Lyme Disease

Yesterday, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, alongside Project Lyme, held a press conference at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge to advocate for increased federal funding for Lyme Disease research. Suffolk County had the highest number of Lyme disease cases in the country between 2019 and 2022, and New York was the number one state for reported cases of Lyme disease in 2022. These statistics emphasize the urgent need for increased funding and research to better understand, treat, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating illness.

Florida’s Lyme Disease Is Undercounted

Melissa Bell, President of the Florida Lyme Disease Association, recently met with Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD, to discuss Lyme disease in their state. Their zoom call also included others from the Department of Health as well as Professor Kerry Clark from the University of North Florida. Man Plans To Hike The US’s Triple Crown, Raise Awareness About Tick-Borne Disease

Steve was an educator. For years he taught at a public highschool following the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Detroit, Michigan. He chaperoned kids on experiential learning trips and worked to get them excited about education. Now that he is retired, he has a new mission. Hike the three longest trails in the United States, educating and raising awareness of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases along the way.
